Vibra Healthcare Welcomes Eric Mueller as CEO of San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital

Vibra Healthcare is pleased to announce Eric Mueller as chief executive officer of San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, an inpatient medical rehabilitation hospital located in Fresno, California. Mueller began his new role on December 8, 2025.

Mueller is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 18 years of experience in hospital operations, strategic growth, and performance improvement. He brings a strong track record of elevating patient satisfaction to top-decile performance, strengthening clinical outcomes, and driving operational efficiency.

Throughout his career, Mueller has served as a change agent for hospitals, strengthening organizational culture, improving employee morale, and increasing staff retention. His leadership approach emphasizes accountability, patient-centered service, and empowering teams to deliver high-quality care.

“Eric is a values-driven leader who understands that exceptional patient care begins with supporting the people who deliver it,” said Wayne Mackey, chief human resources officer for Vibra Healthcare. “Having known and worked alongside Eric for more than seven years, I have seen firsthand his unwavering commitment to quality, his service-oriented leadership, and his ability to empower those around him. These qualities make him an excellent fit for San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. We are excited to welcome Eric back to the Vibra family and are confident he will have an immediate and lasting impact.”

“My leadership philosophy is rooted in service to others,” Mueller said. “I never expect my staff to do anything I am not willing to do myself. Respect and integrity are values instilled in me at an early age by my grandfather, and are principles I carry into my leadership every day.”

Mueller’s passion for rehabilitation began early in his career, when he worked with Veterans returning from the Gulf War who had experienced traumatic brain injuries, amputations, strokes, and spinal cord injuries. He also led an aquatic therapy program for spinal cord–injured Veterans, further shaping his dedication to rehabilitation services and patient recovery.

Reflecting on his new role, Mueller shared his enthusiasm for joining the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital team and working with the organization’s engaged staff to build upon its strong patient care outcomes.

Outside of work, Mueller enjoys spending time with his family. He is married with four children and two grandchildren. A devoted Chicago-style pizza enthusiast, he and his wife enjoy live music and traveling across the country for concerts. A former Ironman competitor, Mueller remains an avid cyclist and swimmer.
